Is Holger Rune playing today? The box above gives the answer: if he has a match today, it appears under the current tournament with opponent, round and start time in Danish time (CET, UTC+1). If it says there is no match, his next tournament is the Swiss Indoors Basel (26 Oct – 1 Nov). Below we explain how start times are set, where the match is on TV and how his latest match went.
Is Holger Rune playing today? How to read the box
The box pulls data from the ATP and the tournaments and refreshes automatically several times an hour on match days. It has four cards: the current tournament, his latest match, his next match and where to watch in Denmark. Below the cards you can see when the status was last updated.
Rune does not play every day, even during a tournament. In a normal ATP week there is usually a rest day or two between his early-round matches, while the quarterfinal, semifinal and final fall on consecutive days from Friday to Sunday. Once he loses, the event is over for him, and the box shows no match today until the next tournament begins.
As of 23 October 2026, after withdrawing from Brussels (his back had seized up, but scans showed nothing serious), he is aiming to play in Basel. His status there: entered with a protected ranking – draw on Saturday. For the week ahead, see Holger Rune's next match.
What time does Holger Rune play today?
The start time is only certain the evening before. The tournament publishes the next day's order of play late in the afternoon or in the evening. Only the first match on each court and the evening-session matches have a fixed time; the rest are "followed by", meaning they start when the previous match on the same court ends. If Rune is third on a court, his start can move by an hour or more depending on how long the earlier matches last.
Some matches are listed as "not before" a certain time. That is the earliest possible start, not a promise. Treat the time in the box as an expected start time.
This autumn the maths is easy: Basel, Paris and Stockholm share Denmark's time zone, and since 25 October that is CET (UTC+1). During the Asian swing in Tokyo and Shanghai in October, his matches were played in the Danish morning.
Holger Rune match today on TV
In Denmark every ATP tournament is shown by TV 2 in 2026, so for his autumn events the answer is TV 2 Sport and TV 2 Play. TV 2 Play carries every centre-court match from the events in the deal, while TV 2 Sport and TV 2 Sport X show selected matches. On an outside court a match may only be streamed, or not shown at all.
Grand Slams work differently in Denmark: the Australian Open, French Open and US Open are on Eurosport and HBO Max, Wimbledon is on DR. Davis Cup rights are agreed tie by tie – Denmark's win over Bulgaria in September 2026 was on DR2 and DRTV. Outside Denmark it depends on the local rights holder. The full overview is on where to watch Holger Rune.
Did Holger Rune win today? Result and latest match
When the match is over, the box moves the result to the "Latest match" card with the set scores. Most recently he lost to Daniel Altmaier 6-1 6-7(5) 4-6 in round 1 of the Shanghai Masters (7 October 2026). His 2026 record at tour level, including the Davis Cup, is 2–2.
The comeback started well. In the Davis Cup in Hillerød on 18 September 2026 he beat Iliyan Radulov 6-3, 6-3, and the next day he beat Grigor Dimitrov 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) as Denmark defeated Bulgaria 3-2. The ATP Tour has been harder: in Tokyo he lost 3-6, 1-6 to Kyrian Jacquet on 1 October, and in Shanghai he took the first set 6-1 against Daniel Altmaier before losing 6-1, 6-7(5), 4-6 on 7 October. Every match is listed under Holger Rune results.
While a match is on, the score in the box updates as it goes. The Holger Rune live score page explains how to read it and where else to follow it officially.
A typical match day
Men's singles on the ATP Tour is best of three sets, and so is the Davis Cup; only at the Grand Slams do men play best of five. A three-set match often lasts between one and a half and two and a half hours, while a quick win or loss can be over in about an hour – his Tokyo match lasted 53 minutes. At 6-6 in a set, a tiebreak decides it.
If the previous match on the same court runs long, everything moves back. It is therefore worth keeping an eye on the box or the broadcaster in the run-up to the expected start rather than relying on a fixed time.
Holger Rune today: ranking and form after the comeback
Holger Rune is ranked No. 1205 in the ATP rankings (as of 19 October 2026). The number says little about his level: on 19 October 2026 the points from his 2025 Stockholm semifinal, where his Achilles tendon ruptured, came off, and the Davis Cup awards no ATP points. He enters events on a protected ranking, No. 14 according to the Swiss newspaper Blick. His career high is No. 4 from August 2023, the best ever by a Danish man. See the Holger Rune ranking page for the week-by-week path.
What can be judged today is his form. Two Davis Cup wins showed he can win matches again, while the two ATP defeats and the back problem before Brussels show that the comeback is still a work in progress.
