Holger Rune Odds and Predictions

Who wins Holger Rune’s next match? Win chances from our prediction model and a sober look at his form after the comeback.

Updated 24 October 2026 ·

Holger Rune odds and predictions in autumn 2026 come down to one question: how far along is he after his comeback? His next tournament is Swiss Indoors Basel (26 Oct – 1 Nov), and the win chances from our prediction model appear on this page as soon as his match is on the schedule. Below we take a sober look at his form and explain how odds work – no tips and no guarantees. This page is intended for adults aged 18 and over only.

Win chances from our ATP prediction model

The widget shows our model's win probabilities, in per cent, for upcoming matches on the ATP Tour – including Holger Rune's whenever he is in the draw. The model is statistical and built on ATP data; it is updated several times a day, and its track record so far is shown in the widget itself. A probability is an estimate, not a promise: a player with a 70% chance still loses roughly three matches out of ten.

With Rune there is an extra layer of uncertainty right now. After almost a year without matches there are unusually few recent results to judge him by, and that applies to every prediction, ours included.

Holger Rune's form after the comeback

Rune ruptured his left Achilles tendon in the Stockholm Open semifinal against Ugo Humbert on 18 October 2025, while leading by a set, and had surgery in Copenhagen three days later. He missed all four Grand Slams of 2026 and returned after 335 days: in the Davis Cup in Hillerød on 18–19 September 2026 he beat Iliyan Radulov 6-3, 6-3 and Grigor Dimitrov 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) as Denmark beat Bulgaria 3-2.

On the ATP Tour the wins have not come yet. In Tokyo he lost 3-6, 1-6 to Kyrian Jacquet in the first round on 1 October, and in Shanghai he took the first set 6-1 against Daniel Altmaier before losing 6-1, 6-7(5), 4-6 on 7 October. On 18 October he withdrew from the European Open in Brussels because his back had seized up; according to the ATP, scans showed nothing serious. His 2026 win-loss record stands at 2–2.

So the picture is mixed: two Davis Cup wins, one of them over Dimitrov in a deciding tiebreak, but two first-round defeats on tour and a new physical problem. Nobody can say in advance how quickly he will find his pre-injury level, which is the main reason to treat every prediction about him with caution. His career numbers are on the Holger Rune stats page.

Ranking and protected ranking

Holger Rune is No. 1205 in the ATP rankings (as of 19 October 2026). The position reflects the expiry of his points from the 2025 Stockholm semifinal and the fact that he has barely played in 2026. His career high is No. 4 from 21 August 2023, and as recently as 20 October 2025 he was No. 10. He enters tournaments with a protected ranking of No. 14, which the ATP grants to players returning from a long injury break. The full story is on our Holger Rune ranking page.

Holger Rune odds for the next match: what to watch

Most recently he lost to Daniel Altmaier 6-1 6-7(5) 4-6 in round 1 of the Shanghai Masters (7 October 2026). His next event is Swiss Indoors Basel in Basel, Switzerland (ATP 500, 26 Oct – 1 Nov); status: entered with a protected ranking – draw on Saturday. As of 23 October 2026 his autumn schedule reads: Swiss Indoors Basel (26 Oct – 1 Nov), Paris Masters (31 Oct – 8 Nov), Stockholm Open (8–14 November). Dates, opponent and start time are updated on the Holger Rune next match page.

  • Whether he starts. After the back problem, check the draw and any withdrawals right up to the start of play.
  • The opponent. Ranking and recent results matter. A qualifier will already have won matches on site.
  • Indoor hard courts. Basel, Paris and Stockholm are all played indoors – the surface on which Rune won the Paris Masters and the Stockholm Open in 2022 and reached the Basel final.
  • Previous meetings. Against many top players he has a long history, listed on the Holger Rune head-to-head page.
  • Physical load. Long three-set matches are a test in the first months after such a serious injury, and so is the day after a hard match.

How odds work: decimal odds explained

In Denmark and most of Europe odds are shown as decimal odds. The number tells you how much is paid out for every unit staked if the bet wins, stake included. The examples below are purely hypothetical and relate to no particular match: odds of 1.80 mean that a €10 stake returns €18, a profit of €8. Odds of 3.00 return €30 for €10. If the bet loses, the whole stake is gone.

Odds can also be turned into a probability by dividing 1 by the odds: 2.00 equals 50%, 1.25 equals 80%.

Hypothetical decimal odds and the probability they imply
OddsReturn on a 10-unit stakeImplied probability (1 ÷ odds)
1.2512.5080.0%
1.8018.0055.6%
2.0020.0050.0%
2.5025.0040.0%
4.0040.0025.0%

The bookmaker's margin

Add up the implied probabilities for both players and you always get more than 100%. The difference is the bookmaker's margin. A hypothetical example: player A at 1.80 (55.6%) and player B at 1.95 (51.3%) add up to 106.9%; the almost 7% above 100 is the bookmaker's built-in edge, which is why bettors lose money on average over time.

Odds and model percentages are not the same thing

Our model calculates its own win chances from data, while bookmakers' odds also reflect their margin and the way people bet. The two can therefore differ. Neither is a guarantee, and a difference is never a sign of a sure bet.

Bet responsibly – adults only

This page is information and analysis for tennis fans – not betting advice and not a promise of any result. If you choose to bet, you must be 18 or over (or older where your local law requires it) and should only use bookmakers licensed in your country; in Denmark that means a licence from the Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden). Set a firm budget and never bet money you cannot afford to lose.

In Denmark you can self-exclude from all licensed operators through ROFUS, and StopSpillet offers free, anonymous advice on 70 22 28 25. Our responsible gambling guide also lists help outside Denmark, and our betting guide explains how to check a licence. Holger Rune has no connection to this site, our predictions or any bookmaker.

Where can I find Holger Rune's odds for his next match?

We do not show bookmakers' odds; we show our prediction model's win chances in per cent as soon as his match is scheduled. Bookmakers' odds change constantly and should only be checked with operators licensed in your country.

When does Holger Rune play next?

His next tournament is Swiss Indoors Basel (26 Oct – 1 Nov). Status as of 24 October 2026: entered with a protected ranking – draw on Saturday.

Why is Holger Rune ranked so low?

He is No. 1205 (as of 19 October 2026) because he was injured for almost a year and his points from the 2025 Stockholm semifinal have expired. He enters tournaments with a protected ranking of No. 14.

What do odds of 2.00 mean?

Odds of 2.00 mean that a stake of 10 returns 20 if the bet wins, and that the bookmaker rates the chance at about 50% before its margin. The example is hypothetical.
