The breakthrough came in 2022, when he went from 7 wins the year before to 39 and won three titles, including the Paris Masters. 2023 was his best season by ranking and prize money, with 44 wins, a year-end No. 8 and a place at the ATP Finals. His most wins in a year came in 2024 with 45, even without a title. In 2025 he won Barcelona before the October injury ended his season, and 2026 has so far brought only four matches: as of 23 October 2026, two Davis Cup wins against Bulgaria and first-round defeats in Tokyo and Shanghai.
Overall he wins about 62 per cent of his tour-level matches (as of 23 October 2026). That is the ATP's official count of main-draw, Grand Slam and Davis Cup matches; qualifying, Challenger and Futures events, where he played most of his matches until 2021, are not included.

His best Grand Slam results are the fourth round at the Australian Open (2023, 2025), quarterfinals at Roland Garros (2022, 2023) and Wimbledon (2023), and the third round at the US Open (2022); his 2022 Roland Garros quarterfinal made him the first Danish man of the Open Era to reach a major quarterfinal. Holger Rune against top-10 players
Against players ranked in the top 10 at the time of the match, Rune has 20 wins and 24 defeats. The figure comes from Wikipedia's career statistics, citing the ATP, and our own count of the ATP match data gives the same result as of 23 October 2026.
The standout run is the 2022 Paris Masters, where he beat five top-10 players in a row – Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz, Félix Auger-Aliassime and Novak Djokovic – and became the first player to beat five top-10 opponents at one event outside the ATP Finals. Other big wins include world No. 1 Djokovic in the Rome quarterfinals in 2023 and world No. 2 Alcaraz in the 2025 Barcelona final. His record against each rival is on the Holger Rune head-to-head page.
Holger Rune on clay, hard courts and grass
We also split his matches by surface using the ATP match data. Hard courts include indoor and outdoor events. His 2018 Davis Cup debut is not included because the surface is missing from our data, so the total is one win short of his career record.
| Surface | Won–lost | Win rate |
|---|---|---|
| Hard | 109–66 | 62% |
| Clay | 55–34 | 62% |
| Grass | 12–9 | 57% |
He wins almost the same share of matches on hard courts and clay. Clay has brought the most titles and two Roland Garros quarterfinals; hard courts gave him his biggest title in Paris and the Indian Wells final. Grass is the surface he has played least, with the 2023 Wimbledon quarterfinal and the Queen's Club semifinal the same year as his best results.
Davis Cup and junior numbers
In the Davis Cup, Rune has won 10 and lost 4 singles matches for Denmark. He made his debut in April 2018 aged 14 years and 11 months – the youngest Danish Davis Cup player ever – and won both his matches against Bulgaria in Hillerød in September 2026 (all ties on the Holger Rune Davis Cup page). As a junior he was ITF world No. 1 in October 2019 and won the 2019 French Open boys' title, beating Toby Kodat in the final. Junior matches are not part of the ATP figures above.
