Holger Rune's autumn 2026 schedule

The autumn is built around events where Rune has done well before. He has won the Paris Masters and the Stockholm Open and reached the final in Basel. All three are played indoors on hard courts, the surface on which he won the biggest title of his career.

Swiss Indoors Basel (ATP 500)

As of 23 October 2026, Basel is his next stop. The main draw runs at St. Jakobshalle from 26 October to the final on Sunday 1 November. Rune is on the entry list, published on 22 September, with his protected ranking. After withdrawing from Brussels on 18 October because his back had seized up, his team said the plan was still to play Basel. His Basel record is 10-3: he reached the 2022 final, losing 3-6, 5-7 to Félix Auger-Aliassime, and lost the 2023 semifinal to the same player.

Paris Masters (Masters 1000)

The event at La Défense Arena runs from 31 October to 8 November; according to the tournament those dates include qualifying, so the main draw starts a little later. The organisers say Rune is the only player on the entry list using a protected ranking. Paris is his best tournament: he won it in 2022, beating five top-10 players in a row, including Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, whom he defeated 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the final. His Paris record is 12-2.

Stockholm Open (ATP 250)

According to a press release from the Swedish broadcaster TV4 on 23 September 2026, Rune is confirmed in the field at the Kungliga Tennishallen, where the main draw runs from 8 to 14 November. He won the title in 2022, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 6-4 in the final. Stockholm is also where he ruptured his Achilles tendon in the semifinal against Ugo Humbert on 18 October 2025.

Surfaces and time zones

For viewers in Denmark the autumn schedule could hardly be easier. Basel, Paris and Stockholm are in the Central European time zone, and since the clocks went back on 25 October that means CET (UTC+1). A match listed for 2pm starts at 2pm Danish time.

Earlier in the autumn it was different: in Tokyo and Shanghai his matches were played in the Danish morning, as Japan and China are seven and six hours ahead of Danish summer time. The Asian events are played outdoors on hard courts, while the European autumn events are all indoors, with no wind or weather to deal with. Indoor hard courts are generally quick and reward a big serve and aggressive baseline play.

All three European events belong to the ATP Tour, which TV 2 shows in Denmark in 2026. See where to watch Holger Rune for channels in Denmark and abroad.

How the comeback schedule was built

Rune was away from tennis for 335 days after surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon on 21 October 2025. He missed all four Grand Slams in 2026 and withdrew from the US Open in August. His comeback came in the Davis Cup in Hillerød on 18–19 September 2026, where he won both his singles rubbers and Denmark beat Bulgaria 3-2.

On 22 September he said he had planned five events up to mid-November: Tokyo, Shanghai, Basel, Paris and Stockholm. "I never imagined it would take so long," he told Ubitennis. The first two stops brought first-round defeats: 3-6, 1-6 to Kyrian Jacquet in Tokyo on 1 October and 6-1, 6-7(5), 4-6 to Daniel Altmaier in Shanghai on 7 October. He then received a wildcard for the European Open in Brussels but withdrew on 18 October because of his back.

The ranking shapes the schedule too. Rune is No. 1205 (as of 19 October 2026) because his 2025 points have expired, so he relies on his protected ranking to enter the big events. ATP rules allow only a limited number of events on a protected ranking, and how many he has left has not been made public. His record at every event is on the Holger Rune titles and tournaments page.

Holger Rune matches in 2026 so far

His 2026 record is 2–2. These are the four matches he has played since his return:

  • 18 September, Davis Cup in Hillerød: beat Iliyan Radulov 6-3, 6-3.
  • 19 September, Davis Cup in Hillerød: beat Grigor Dimitrov 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4).
  • 1 October, Japan Open in Tokyo, first round: lost 3-6, 1-6 to Kyrian Jacquet.
  • 7 October, Shanghai Masters, first round: lost 6-1, 6-7(5), 4-6 to Daniel Altmaier.

All results, including earlier seasons, are on the Holger Rune results page.

Looking ahead to 2027

Beyond the three autumn events, little of 2027 is known as of 23 October 2026. Denmark play the first round of the Davis Cup Qualifiers in early 2027, with the draw expected in November 2026; his ties so far are on the Holger Rune Davis Cup page. The season starts as always with the Australian Open in January, but Rune has said nothing about his plans. He has played Melbourne four times, with a best result of the fourth round in 2023 and 2025.

The broadcast picture in Denmark is open as well: TV 2's ATP deal runs only through 2026, and the rights from 2027 have not been announced. We will update the schedule as soon as his 2027 events are known.
